June 22, 2023 - SAM, an influential youth engagement program, took part in the Yuva Utsav@2047 event held at Janaki Devi Memorial College. Organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the event aimed to highlight the crucial role of youth in the Amrit Kaal of Bharat. With over 250 enthusiastic attendees, the event proved to be a resounding success.
Throughout the day, various engaging activities were conducted simultaneously in different classrooms of JDMC, including painting competitions, writing contests, photography challenges, declamation contests, and lively cultural performances. The focus of these activities centered around fostering good citizenship, promoting secular values, developing essential skills, and encouraging productive and organized behavior among the youth.
The event witnessed several departments from Central Ministry showcasing their initiatives and vision for the youth and inspiring them to think beyond the ordinary and go limitless. Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India, Mr. Santosh Kumar Rai (IAS), Mrs. Swati Pal (Principal JDMC) were some of the names present among other dignitaries.
SAM Workshops was the only NGO to be received an invitation to this esteemed event by District Youth Officer (NYK), Mrs. Nisha Kumari ji, who believes in SAM’s mission and vision. SAM is a powerful youth engagement program which seeks to awaken, inspire, and transform young minds. It is a completely volunteer driven initiative. Dr. Shivani Bharti Ji graced this event with SAM volunteers. The SAM Workshop had a well-defined stall with various publications on youth centric issues and their solutions which includes books on Honouring youth icons, Heritage Conservation, Nation Building, to name a few, and which have had a positive impact on thousands of lives since its inception. With this, the SAM volunteers were guiding inquisitive youth about the purpose of SAM workshops and how even they can experience the SAM workshops and become a volunteer.
Following the ceremonial lighting, a mesmerizing dance performance on 'Ganesh Stuti' enthralled the audience and set the Utsav rolling. This was followed by a captivating display of yoga asanas accompanied by soothing music, presented by students of the Morarji Desai Yoga Institute.
Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India, delivered a thought-provoking address, referring to India as Bharat—a land of great wealth and happiness that has faced challenges from various outsiders who manipulated its history. She also highlighted the forgotten tales of Rani Abakka Chowta and Rani Chennamma.
She also expressed her gratitude towards SAM for its innovative campaigns, selfless service to society, and commitment to empower and transformation the young minds.
